Dr Anil Heroor is an senior Oncosurgeon and the Head, Surgical Oncology Fortis Hospital Mulund. He has conducted more than 10000 cancer surgeries successfully in a career spanning over 2 decades. Every year more than 4000 cancer patients consult him for expert advice regarding management of cancer.
Dr. Anil Heroor has completed his basic training from Tata Memorial Hospital, a premier Cancer Institute in the country and his MBBS from the Seth G. S. Medical College & KEM Hospital, Mumbai. He did his General Surgical training from the LTMG Hospital, Mumbai. He was adjudged 1st in LTMGH in MS and received Wockhardt award for the same.
After passing MS, he did his Surgical Oncology training at the Tata Memorial Hospital, performing numerous cancer surgeries. He has numerous publications including International publications to his credit.
He now heads the Surgical Oncology Program at Fortis Hospitals Mumbai which covers the geography of Mulund, Kalyan, Dombivli and Vashi. He is also attached to Fortis Hospital Raheja. The Unit in Mulund is recognized as the Training Unit for DNB Diplomat of National Board in surgical oncology for training the surgeons to become cancer specialists. The Unit does about 500 cases every year. He has started the MINIMAL ACCESS (Laparoscopic & Robotic ) Surgery Unit in Fortis Hospital for Cancer. The Unit trains young surgeons in minimal access Onco surgery. Maharashtra University of Health Sciences approved a Fellowship program for COLORECTAL SURGERY under his guidance at the Fortis hospital Mulund.
He conducts regular CMEs and is an active faculty at numerous conferences. He was the Scientific Committee chairman at the Maharashtra Association of Surgeons (MASICON) held in Thane in 2014. He is also Past President, Surgical Society Thane.
He is active in social causes having organized numerous awareness programmes in schools , senior citizens clubs and society in general. He has been instrumental in organizing CANCER AWARENESS WALKS, BIKE RALLIES and other program for creating awareness for cancer.
Another brainchild was a CANCER SUPPORT GROUP – MAITREE PARIVAR which helps cancer patients to come together showcase their talents share their anxieties and help overcome their fears.
He is a trustee of GKC trust which works for the eradication of the tobacco habit in society. He is also on the board of Adhar Rekha Pratisthan which works for Cancer patients in Thane.
GKCT Trust has now also started a mobile Cancer detection unit named ‘ Hope Smiles & Sunshine’ which has mammography machine in it . This works primarily in the rural areas in Thane district.
